Cadence launches the new Spectre FX Simulator, which provides up to 3 times performance improvement and excellent accuracy

Feb 02 72
Kadence Electronics (Cadence, USA, NASDAQ: CDNS) today announced the launch of a new generation of FastSPICE circuit simulator-Cadence® Spectre® FX Simulator, which can be used to efficiently verify memory and large-scale system-on-chip (SoC) designs.

Spectre FX Simulator is a part of Cadence's industry-leading Spectre simulation platform. Compared with other FastSPICE simulators, Spectre FX Simulator's scalable and innovative FastSPICE architecture provides customers with up to 3 times the performance with the same or better accuracy degree.

With the addition of Spectre FX Simulator, the Cadence Spectre platform can now provide the industry's only complete simulation solution, providing seamless precision and performance for all applications from cell characterization to chip-level verification.

Today's complex memory and SoC designs require high-precision and fast simulation performance to ensure that the designed memory and SoC can meet functional expectations and chip specifications. In addition, the influence of post-layout parasitics needs to be considered in the chip verification process, especially for advanced process nodes, the importance of post-layout parasitics on chip functions is becoming more and more prominent.

The new FastSPICE parser was developed with innovative engineering design to provide Spectre FX Simulator with breakthrough performance and accuracy. This new simulator helps design and verification teams accurately check the timing, functionality, and power consumption of full-chip and subsystem-level designs. In addition to improving productivity through improved performance and accuracy, the newly launched Spectre FX Simulator also has some other advantages.

· Scalability: This simulator provides scalability of up to 32 cores, and parallelizes transient simulation through multi-threading, thereby making better use of hardware resources and increasing productivity.

· Excellent use mode: Spectre FX Simulator provides the most intuitive use mode in the industry, supports out-of-the-box accuracy and performance balance, only a few adjustments, can provide the best for any specific verification task Accuracy and simulation speed.

· Ease of use: The simulator takes full advantage of the infrastructure technology of the Spectre platform, including seamless integration with the Virtuoso® ADE product suite, and can be easily applied to existing Spectre and SPICE processes.

· Comprehensive analysis and verification functions: Spectre FX Simulator provides a wide range of verification functions, including static and dynamic circuit inspection, multi-process angle changes, parameter scanning and Monte Carlo analysis, enabling designers to expand the scope of verification to function, timing and Outside the power check.

"MediaTek needs a high-precision, scalable and fast top-level verification solution for our high-speed SoC design of advanced process nodes." said Ching San Wu, global vice president of Mediatek. "Use the newly launched Cadence Spectre FX Simulator to simulate We use its performance, ease of use, and multi-core capabilities to increase FastSPICE verification speed by 3 times. By deploying Spectre FX Simulator, we can use the complete Cadence Spectre platform as a one-stop solution to meet all of our SoC simulations demand."

"Renesas' flash memory IP verification process must efficiently and accurately verify the functions, timing and power consumption in various operating modes, while also considering the influence of parasitic effects after the layout." Renesas shared the research and development EDA department, Nobuhiko, director of the design automation department Mr. Goto said, “The newly launched Spectre FX Simulator seamlessly integrates with our IP verification process, and with its intuitive usage model and minimal adjustment requirements, it has helped us achieve a 2x productivity increase.”

"The Cadence Spectre platform has been the industry's leading analog simulation solution for more than 25 years. We have always been committed to providing customers with proven accuracy and performance advantages." Senior Vice President, Custom IC and PCB, Cadence Tom Beckley, general manager of the business unit, said, “Through the newly launched Spectre FX Simulator, we are improving the Spectre product portfolio and bringing customers high-precision and fast simulation solutions. The Spectre FX Simulator enables customers to accelerate SoC design Verification to help them achieve their extremely short time-to-market goals."

The new Spectre FX Simulator further consolidates Spectre's leading position in the industry, supports the company's Intelligent System Design™ strategy (Intelligent System Design™), and helps customers achieve outstanding SoC designs.
