Lidar company Ouster announces cooperation with Nvidia to accelerate the deployment of self-driving cars

Feb 02 75
"On November 12, the OUSTER public account revealed that Lidar company Ouster and NVIDIA have reached a cooperation. The cooperation between Ouster and Nvidia aims to continuously provide developers with better sensors, data and tools.

According to OUSTER news, based on NVIDIA DRIVE, Ouster provides a dedicated NVIDIA DriveWorks plug-in to help customers more easily integrate our high-performance digital lidar into any autonomous vehicle.

NVIDIA DRIVE aims to simplify the development of autonomous vehicles in all aspects. Users of NVIDIA DRIVE can access NVIDIA's in-vehicle hardware platform, SDK, vehicle reference architecture, autonomous vehicle simulation platform, and neural network training tools.

The DriveWorks plug-in provided by Ouster can help: integrate Ouster lidar into the software platform; process a large amount of lidar point cloud data; improve the performance of perception algorithms; use lidar data output to train deep neural networks (DNN); multi-sensor calibration; Replay and analyze the recorded data of multiple sensors.

The NVIDIA DRIVE platform enables customers to take full advantage of the powerful features of Ouster lidar to maximize the capabilities of perception and positioning algorithms. For example, self-driving car developers can use the 2D structured data output by Ouster lidar to simplify vector processing, and obtain 2D/3D fusion perception at the same time from only one lidar, and all of these are included in NVIDIA's simplified development framework Inside.

The high resolution provided by Ouster lidar can also improve the accuracy of key object detection algorithms. The traditional low-resolution lidar (16 lines or lower) simply cannot provide enough data to the perception system for target recognition and classification, so that the vehicle computing unit cannot make correct decisions. The high resolution can increase the effective range of lidar detection. With the seamless integration of DriveWorks, autonomous vehicle engineers can more easily dig out the inherent advantages of digital lidar and make full use of them to enhance the performance of their autonomous driving systems.

According to reports, Ouster is the world’s leading supplier of digital lidar, dedicated to allowing machines to ""see"" the world, providing high-resolution, high-reliability, and low-cost applications for autonomous driving, robotics, drones, V2X, and security. Lidar products.

Earlier, on October 26, Ouster issued a statement saying that it completed the acquisition of Sense Photonics (hereinafter referred to as ""Sense"") and formally established the Ouster Automotive Division, a company focused on promoting digital lidar in the passenger car and commercial vehicle market. The new functional department of the application. According to the agreement, Ouster eventually acquired 100% of the share capital of Sense and all of its assets with approximately 10 million ordinary shares."
