According to eeNews, Micledi Microdisplays CEO Sean Lord said, "We are delighted to be working with Global Foundries as we move from pilot line production to volume production in world-class wafer fabs."
"To achieve the best AR microdisplays, Micledi has developed a unique and innovative MicroLED manufacturing solution that integrates a controller IC and transmitter module, using Global Foundries' 12-inch semiconductor manufacturing technology, fully utilizing Product performance, high yield and low cost manufacturing precision.”
The supporting integrated circuits, which can be customized for different customer applications, will provide image processing, driving and control functions, and use wafer-to-wafer hybrid bonding to finally complete the manufacture of display modules.
Micledi Microdisplays spun out from the IMEC Institute in 2019, and its technology is based on III/V material processing, 3D integration and silicon-based processing, combined with a proprietary ASIC to provide a self-contained, compact monolithic AR display.
