Aizip, the artificial intelligence TinyML (Micro Machine Learning) technology leader in the AIoT (Intelligent Internet of Things) field, today released the Aizip Intelligent Module (AIM) product line for sensor fusion applications.
In recent years, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence, sensor fusion technology has received more and more attention. Sensor fusion is the process of combining data from different sensor sources to reduce prediction uncertainty, enabling more complex tasks. One example is improving location prediction accuracy by combining GPS signals from satellites and street views from cameras, processing results with less uncertainty than when using one data source alone.
While sensor fusion is already used in areas such as self-driving cars, it has yet to find its way into the IoT market. The very limited memory and processing power in low-cost semiconductor IoT devices makes deploying sensor fusion an extremely difficult task. Recently, Renesas Electronics, a leader in IoT semiconductor devices and smart solutions, and Aizip formed a joint team to successfully introduce sensor fusion technology into the IoT platform. With its deep understanding of the market, extensive TinyML expertise, and automated design tools, the team has developed technologies that deliver the high product performance and high processing efficiency required for advanced IoT applications.
In a demonstration of its sensor fusion capabilities, the team developed a Personal Access System (PAS) based on the RA6M3 microcontroller device in Renesas' widely scalable 32-bit RA MCU family using an ARM Cortex- M4 core. The AIzip Intelligent Module (AIM) integrates a variety of artificial intelligence functions, including humanoid detection, face detection, face recognition, and voiceprint recognition. The overall accuracy of personal identification is significantly higher than that of face recognition or voiceprint recognition alone. Based on its flexible architecture, the various functions in PAS can be provided as a whole or in various combinations to meet various customer needs.
Kaushal Vora, Senior Director, Business Acceleration and Ecosystem, Renesas Electronics, commented: "AIZIP demonstrated its excellent TinyML technology in this stunning demonstration." challenging, and the team succeeded in implanting four models in one device." This approach can significantly reduce cost and save power compared to existing solutions using more powerful but expensive semiconductor devices. Renesas has AIoT as a key area of focus, and the close collaboration with Aizip is part of its TinyML ecosystem.
"We are delighted to see that the PAS project is progressing well," said Yan Sun, CEO of AIZIP. "Renesas Electronics is a global leader in MCUs and IoT devices. We are honored to partner with them in the fast-growing TinyML market." According to AIZIP's experience, Renesas Electronics' products are equipped with an excellent development environment, which enables The associated design and integration are fast and efficient. Renesas' high-performance MCUs have been widely recognized by the industry as a chip of choice for the IoT market.
Renesas Electronics demonstrated PAS for the first time at the Embedded Software World 2022 in Nuremberg, Germany. The successful demonstration of sensor fusion technology in a small MCU device is an important milestone in making IoT devices smarter. Renesas and Aizip aim for an intelligent and sustainable world, and they are working with numerous customers to apply TinyML technology to a wide range of commercial applications.
The AIM product family launched by AIZIP this time focuses on sensor fusion and will include a combination of two or more models in AIZIP products including Intelligent Vision (AIV), Intelligent Audio (AIA) and Intelligent Time Series (AIT) . AIZIP provides TinyML models to its IC partners, module customers, and system customers worldwide. AIZIP is committed to bringing low-cost and high-performance artificial intelligence to Chinese and global customers.
