According to the latest report of TrendForce (Jibang Consulting), "2023 Global LED Display Market Outlook and Price Cost Analysis", the global LED display market for virtual photography applications will be about 283 million dollars in 2021. It is estimated that the market output value of virtual photography LED display will steadily increase to 431 million dollars in 2022, an increase of 52% over the previous year.
TrendForce said that although in 2022, affected by inflation and the global economic downturn, more studios will use virtual photography technology, so the market output value will grow steadily. Instead of traditional green screens, LED displays have significantly reduced post production time and video production costs, and have been used in entertainment video and audio industries such as film, drama, advertising and other shooting, which has become the reason for the growth of LED displays in the field of virtual photography applications.
Virtual Production attaches importance to high dynamic range imaging (HDR), high picture update rate (HFR) and high grayscale images, and emphasizes picture quality, color fineness and smoothness. It is mainly used for background display, floor tile screen and ceiling screen. According to the shooting scene and budget requirements, the background display screen for high-order virtual photography requires high brightness (>1500 nits), high resolution (P1.2-P1.6), high gray scale (16 bits), high refresh rate (3840/7680 Hz), image update rate up to 60 Hz, and DCI-P3 (wide color gamut standard).
From the perspective of supply chain, currently, the manufacturer of virtual camera display screen is ranked first by ROE Visual, followed by INFiLED and SONY. Other manufacturers include Alto Electronics, Liad/Planar, Abison, Samsung, LG, etc. The drive IC suppliers are Jiji, Jichuang North, Lingyang Huaxin, Lianyong, Visionchip, etc. In terms of controllers and image processors, manufacturers include Novastar, Brompton Technology and Megapixel VR.
