The crisis in the chip industry has not been lifted, and ON Semiconductor has begun layoffs at its largest chip factory

According to media reports, as sales across the semiconductor industry decline, ON Semiconductor is preparing to lay off an unknown number of workers at its large chip factory in Gresham.

“The slowdown and weak macroeconomic conditions have had an impact on the company's near-term growth prospects, so we have to be more cautious in managing our business and adjusting spending.” ON Semi's public relations manager Sarah Rockey replied in an email. “The company is taking steps to control spending across the organizational structure, which unfortunately includes reducing employees.”
