According to people familiar with the matter, Gerard Williams III, a senior chip engineer who has worked for Apple for 9 years, left Apple in February. Williams joined Apple in 2010 and has worked at ARM for 12 years. During his time at ARM, he has worked on many traditional ARM chip projects as well as projects such as Cortex-A8 and Cortex-A15. Based on his LinkedIn profile, Williams was the head of the design team at Texas Instruments before joining ARM, helping to develop the TI TMS470 microcontroller project.
