ASML, the semiconductor equipment giant, announced its second-quarter earnings report on the 17th, and released its outlook for the second half of the year. It is optimistic that the logic customers will accelerate the investment in advanced process technologies below 7 nanometers in the second half of the year, which will make up for the slowdown in the memory market demand. The overall revenue target for this year remains unchanged and is still a year of growth.

ASML President and CEO Peter Wennink said that benefiting from the improved manufacturing efficiency of the EUV system and the on-site upgrade business revenue, the second quarter sales and gross margin were higher than the previous financial forecast, the second quarter revenue of 2.6 billion euros, quarterly It increased by 13.6%, with a gross profit margin of 43%, a quarterly increase of 1.4 percentage points, a net profit of 476 million euros and a quarterly increase of 34%.

ASML estimates that net sales in the third quarter will reach 3 billion euros, equivalent to a 15% increase in the quarter, and a gross margin of 43 to 44%, which is a flat or quarterly increase of about 1 percentage point.

Looking forward to the second half of the year, Peter Wennink pointed out that it has seen weaker memory customer demand and stronger demand from logical customers. It is expected that the strong demand of logical customers can make up for the slowdown of memory market demand. Among them, the demand for logic chip market is mainly from customers' acceleration of 7 nanometers. The following advanced process node investments, and in the second quarter received a total of 10 EUV extreme ultraviolet light orders, some were used to produce DRAM chips.

As ASML customers include TSMC (2330-TW) and Samsung's heavyweight semiconductor manufacturers, their outlook on the market outlook is regarded as the wind direction of the semiconductor industry. Although there are many uncertainties in the market this year, PeterWennink stressed that for 2019 The overall revenue target for the year remains unchanged, and this year is still a year of growth for ASML.

In addition, ASML has agreed to license EUV's pellicle assembly technology to Mitsui Chemicals, which will provide a large number of assembly and reticle coatings for ASML customers. At the same time, ASML will continue to work with its partners to develop next-generation photomasks to continuously improve the effectiveness of EUV masks.
