According to foreign media reports, Mike Muller, co-founder and chief technology officer of ARMHoldings, a British chip design company, announced that it will retire at the end of September, marking the end of the era led by the chip designer.
ARM's website shows that Muller is 60 years old and he has been the chief technology officer of the company for nearly 20 years. A company spokesperson said it is unclear who will succeed him.
ARM is the UK's largest listed technology company, charging royalties from companies such as Apple and Samsung. Japan's billionaire MasayoshiSon's Softbank Group spent $32 billion in 2016 to acquire it and transform itself into a fast-growing startup, similar to Softbank's other investment targets.
Sun Zhengyi said that he hopes to re-list ARM in the next five years. The company's CEO, Simon Segars, also said that ARM is investing heavily in high-end computing and is at the heart of autonomous driving technology.
