AMD is too strong! Forcing Intel's new products to retreat at half price?

Feb 02 62
According to IHS Markit data, in the second quarter of this year, Intel microprocessor sales were $12.2 billion, followed by AMD, which reached $12 billion. As AMD continues to invade the market, Intel cut the price of the new processor to seek to repel the momentum of AMD.

According to Korean media reports, Intel's new 10th generation Cascade Lake-X CPU, 18-core flagship Core i9-10980XE price is only 979 US dollars, and its previous generation Core i9-9980XE price is up to 1979 US dollars. In addition, 14-core, 12-core and 10-core products have also been reduced by as much as 40%.

In response, Intel explained that the move is aimed at high-end gamers and video editors to adjust the price. However, industry insiders believe that Intel is cutting prices in order to repel AMD, which is gaining momentum.

According to a previous report by the micro-network, a slide revealed by AdoredTV shows that Intel may come up with AMD to make a budget of $3 billion.

This slide showing exposure shows that AMD's net profit in 2018 is about $300 million, and Intel will pay AMD for a total cost of $3 billion, which may include discounts on old products and upcoming products.

As everyone knows, AMD's market share has soared after it hit the TSMC 7nm high-speed train this year. Although Intel has repeatedly said that TSMC's 7nm performance is similar to its own 10nm performance, end users seem more willing to believe in the intuitive lead in the digital, and switch to AMD's new processor.

In addition, Intel's 14nm capacity problem has continued since last year, which makes the big brother have to seek countermeasures to face the "little brother" in the market.
