Feb 02 70
CEVA announced an important milestone in its RivieraWaves Wireless Internet of Things (IoT) technology series: more than 100 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi IP licenses have been signed. This achievement reflects the industry's significant growth in demand for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, especially in the IoT market. ABI Research, a global technology market consultancy, predicts that by 2023, more than 10 billion Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-enabled devices will be shipped each year.

CEVA acquired RivieraWaves in July 2014 as part of its corporate diversification strategy. Under the leadership of CEVA, RivieraWaves continues to grow strongly and is the leader in the semiconductor IP licensing industry for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. During this period, CEVA customers have shipped more than 1 billion Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled devices, and shipped more than 300 million CEVA-based Bluetooth devices in just 2018.

Angel Aznar, vice president of CEVA and general manager of the wireless IoT business unit, said: "In less than five years, we have reached more than 100 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi licensing transactions. This achievement is remarkable, I am very honored. Being able to be a member of the leadership team during this period of strong growth. This achievement demonstrates the superior performance and quality of the IP developed by our engineers. We look forward to seeing a large number of wireless IoT customers coming to market in the next few years. Colorful and innovative products."

CEVA is the only license vendor in the industry to offer both Bluetooth dual-mode and low-power Bluetooth technology, and has licensed to many of the world's leading chip suppliers and OEMs. CEVA is leading the market in audible and wearable products, helping many iconic devices, including the Xiaomi Bracelet series activity tracker, Bluetooth hearing aids from leading manufacturers such as Oticon, the intelligent thermostat provided by Nest, and the popular Tile. Tracker, PokémonGo PLUS and hundreds of wireless speakers, as well as headsets and wearables. CEVA's Wi-Fi IP can help products from smart devices to access points. To date, its Wi-Fi IP has shipped in tens of millions of devices. With the low-power features brought about by the latest Wi-Fi 6 standards, Wi-Fi is becoming more and more popular among IoT device designers. CEVA's wireless connectivity customer base includes Torch Technology, 翱捷科技, Atmosic, Broadcom IC, Hengxuan Technology, Celeno, Dialog Semiconductor, Lexin, LifeSignals, NXP, ON Semiconductor, Otis Electronics, Oticon, RDA, Rui Core Microelectronics, Suichang Communication and ZTE Corporation.

Andrew Zignani, principal analyst at ABI Research, a technology market consultancy, commented: "Licensable intellectual property plays an important role in meeting the extraordinary growth expectations of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity needs, and many companies have chosen to integrate wireless connectivity technology into their SoC design to reduce equipment cost, power consumption and size. CEVA is a key driver for a large number of enterprises embedded in the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wave, providing these companies with leading technology and industry-renowned wireless connectivity expertise."

CEVA has the broadest portfolio of wireless connectivity and smart sensing technology IP products in the industry today. Its RivieraWaves Wi-Fi IP Series is available for embedding Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4), 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) or 802.11 in workstations and access point SoCs/ASSPs Ax (Wi-Fi 6)'s comprehensive platform suite and pre-integrated with popular operating systems including FreeRTOS and AliOS Things. The RivieraWaves Bluetooth IP Series provides a comprehensive solution for low-power Bluetooth and Bluetooth dual-mode connectivity, supporting all Bluetooth 5.1 features, including direction finding (AoA/AoD), random broadcast channel indexing, periodic broadcast sync transmission, GATT buffering and more. Enhanced, so it is widely used for asset tracking, general Internet of Things, and Bluetooth audio applications. For audio applications including headsets and smart speakers, RevieraWaves Bluetooth IP complements CEVA's advanced DSP family and audio/audio/voice/speech algorithms. For low power wide area (LPWA) applications, CEVA offers a CEVA-Dragonfly IP solution that is eNB-IoT compliant and has built-in GNSS functionality.
