Wafer foundry TSMC held an annual supply chain forum on the 5th. President Wei Zhejia was unable to attend due to work. A senior vice president Wang Jianguang gave a speech. He pointed out that the progress of TSMC's advanced process is quite stable and smooth. Looking forward to next year, it is expected that under the construction of 7, 5, 3 nanometer advanced process, the annual capital expenditure will remain at a level of 14-15 billion US dollars.
Wang Jianguang said that I am honored to meet with you on behalf of CC (Wei Zhejia) and thank the supply chain for the successful mass production of TSMC's 7, 7+ nanometer process. This year is the second year of 7nm mass production. TSMC has become a global wafer foundry Leaders, thanks to the joint efforts of supply chain partners.
Looking forward to next year, TSMC expects that under the continuous and stable operation of the supply chain, 7nm orders will continue to be fully loaded, and 5nm will begin mass production in the first half of the year. Wang Jianguang revealed that at present it seems that 5G, AI, HPC and other applications bring strong demand, and TSMC's 7, 5 nanometer orders and production capacity will be very full.
In order to keep the technology ahead, Wang Jianguang pointed out that the 15th plant of TSMC Radio will continue to expand the 7-nanometer process capacity. The first and second phases of the Tainan 18th factory in charge of 5 nanometers are currently busy and actively working. The third phase is expected to move into the machine next year. Progress is in line with expectations. As for the Hsinchu Baoshan Plant, which is expected to be used for 3nm development, construction will begin in the first quarter of next year and be completed in 2021.
Therefore, TSMC ’s capital expenditure next year is expected to be close to this year ’s high level of 14-15 billion U.S. dollars. It is expected that through continuous development and investment, the overall supply chain and semiconductor industry will be circulated forward, and they will be “calculated anytime, anywhere. (Computing anytime, anywhere) ".
In the end, Wang Jianguang mentioned that a major challenge for TSMC in the future is yield. To overcome this difficulty, we must rely on each supplier from top to bottom. Zero defect is a long-term goal of TSMC, and we sincerely hope that it will become the goal of any member of the supply chain.
In addition, while strengthening technology and quality, don't forget the sustainable development of the semiconductor industry. As a global leading factory, through continuous innovation of energy saving methods, TSMC takes care of maintaining the natural ecology while focusing on manufacturing, and also hopes that all supply chains will sign sustainable development related agreements with us and share this commitment with us.
