Price freeze, with robust electronic shelf labels

Feb 02 63
Plastic Logic EPD

The company has announced a bendable EPD, designed for freezer rail type, electronic shelf labels. The 11.5 x 0.5-inches label can withstand repeated bending and ‘installation abuse’ and can be read in the typically harsh lighting used in retail outlets. It operates at temperatures down to -10°C. Tests found that updates were displayed in less than two seconds.

The bendable, e-paper EPD does not require any additional engineering to operate at sub-zero temperatures. It features an organic TFT active matrix and greyscale 1380 x 96 pixels 120ppi display with up to 16 shade levels. A colour display option is also scheduled for release in Q1 2018. Gate and source drivers are included as standard.

An evaluation kit for the EPD is available. It is controlled by Beaglebone and connected via LAN, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Plastic Logic also provides custom display sizes on request.
