The Semiconductor Industry Association states that it is currently working with the US Department of Homeland Security to refine the guidelines issued to state and local officials last week.
It is understood that the document points out that the chip manufacturing business supports all aspects of information technology and also guarantees the home work of millions of Americans, which should be regarded as an essential and important business.
John Neuffer, president of the American Semiconductor Industry Association, said that chips play a vital role in medical equipment, the power grid and other infrastructure.
John Neuffer believes that ensuring the continuity of semiconductors and related supply chains is a necessary condition for digital services to be carried out in the coming weeks and months. At the same time, due to the highly globalized semiconductor supply chain, semiconductor shortages in one region cannot be made up by production in other regions.
It is worth noting that so far, no major US chip company has indicated that production has been interrupted.
