Japanese media: Apple strives for 5G iPhone delay no more than 1-2 months

Feb 02 52
According to the Nikkei Asian Review, Apple is working hard to remedy the huge delays in its latest 5G iPhone production caused by the epidemic. "They are working hard to work overtime and strive to delay no more than 1-2 months."

The report quoted sources as saying that the assessment three months ago was that the worst production of 5G iPhones may have to be dragged to 2021, but because Apple has been working hard to keep up with the progress, it is not likely to drag on for so long now. The current progress is that mass production may be delayed for several months, but Apple is doing all it can to shorten the delay of production, and the progress may be ahead of the assessment.

California, where Apple’s headquarters is located, was restricted from working by the "Home Order" in March this year. However, Apple is different from the major technology giants. In order to save the delayed progress, the company has required some hardware development teams to return to headquarters in May to catch up with the new machine release schedule in September.

However, other sources say that even if the company sets a radical timetable for its suppliers, the situation is still changing. The final assembly of some iPhones may be postponed to early October or even later, because the final design has not been finalized and a lot of testing is still in progress.

In addition, "Nikkei" also pointed out that Apple completed most of the engineering verification tests of 5G mobile phones at the end of June, that is, EVT, which is about a month later than usual.

Apple has not yet commented on the matter.
