The Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA) yesterday (11) revised its estimate of the output value of Taiwan’s IC industry this year. It is optimistic that it will exceed the 3 trillion yuan (NTD, the same below) mark for the first time, with an annual increase of 12.6%, which exceeds the global average. , Obviously Taiwan’s success in epidemic prevention, coupled with TSMC’s leading process and continuous expansion of production capacity, has driven the semiconductor industry to grow against the trend.
The TSIA committee proposed the latest forecast of Taiwan’s IC output value by the International Institute of Obstetrics and Technology (IEK) of the Industrial Technology Research Institute. Taiwan is one of the few unaffected semiconductor production centers in the world during this wave of new crown pneumonia. The output value growth is better than expected.
According to IEK’s latest forecast, Taiwan’s IC output value will exceed 3 trillion yuan this year, reaching 31.9 billion yuan, an annual increase of 12.6%. Among them, the IC design industry output value was 768.4 billion yuan, an annual growth of 10.9%.
The IC manufacturing output value is estimated to reach 1.702 trillion yuan, an annual growth of 15.7%, of which foundry is estimated to reach 1.531 trillion yuan, an annual growth of 16.7%, and memory and other manufacturing is estimated to be 171.1 billion yuan, an annual growth of 7.2%. The output value of the IC packaging industry is estimated at 361 billion yuan, an increase of 4.2%; the IC testing industry is 170 billion yuan, an annual growth of 10.1%.
IEK earlier estimated that the IC industry output value this year will reach 2.81 trillion yuan, an annual growth of 5.5%.
According to IEK statistics, Taiwan’s overall IC industry output value (including IC design, IC manufacturing, IC packaging, and IC testing) reached NT$749.7 billion in the second quarter of this year, an increase of 3.6% quarter-to-quarter and 19.9% year-on-year. The global epidemic is still at its peak. The performance is quite eye-catching. Therefore, the output value of Taiwan’s IC industry this year has been revised to over 3 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.6% over 2019.
According to statistics from the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics Association (WSTS), the global semiconductor market sales value in the second quarter of this year was US$103.6 billion, a quarterly decrease of 0.9%, an annual increase of 5.1%; sales reached 218.7 billion units, a quarterly decrease of 2.4%, and an annual decrease of 2.7 %.
Taiwan’s IC output value will exceed 3 trillion, an annual increase of 12.6%
