According to the Nikkei Asian Review, sources revealed that Huawei is working hard to stock 5G mobile processors, Wifi, radio frequency and display driver ICs, as well as other devices such as key chip developers MediaTek, Realtek, Novatek, and Liji.
According to the latest ban from the US Department of Commerce, chip suppliers will no longer be able to ship Huawei after September 15, and now there are only less than three weeks left.
According to sources, some chip suppliers even agreed to deliver semi-finished products or wafers that have not yet been tested and assembled in order to meet the deadline for delivery.
People familiar with the matter also revealed that Huawei has often called suppliers at 4 am recently or held midnight conference calls. It is reported that memory chip suppliers such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, as well as camera lens manufacturers such as Largan and Sunny Optical are also trying to ship their earlier orders to Huawei before the September 14 deadline.
Another senior executive of a Huawei supplier who is familiar with the situation said that many forecasts show that orders will fall to zero after September 15. In addition, not all parts can be sold to others, so the entire supply chain is still trying to bear the joint Prepare for loss. At the same time, the supply chain is still digesting the downside of overall demand.
The source further stated that the problem is that "it is almost impossible to push too many advanced chips within a short period of time as of the deadline. Now only minor adjustments can be made."
According to Nikkei’s earlier report, Huawei’s current inventory construction is mainly for mobile chip-related products for its smartphone business, because the company has reserved chips that can be used for up to two years for the telecommunications equipment business.
Although Yu Chengdong once said frankly that the Kirin 9000 that will be equipped with the Mate 40 that will be launched this fall may be out of print of Huawei's high-end chips.
But Huawei is still fighting for survival.
