On December 16, 2020, Qualcomm Technologies and Google announced that they will cooperate to enhance and expand Project Treble to help more terminals equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon™ mobile platform run the latest version of the Android operating system. This upgrade is intended to help OEM manufacturers upgrade their Snapdragon mobile platform-equipped terminals to the latest version of the Android operating system without adjusting the relevant software of Qualcomm’s chipset, and can use the general Android software branch to support Qualcomm. The terminal of the technology company's Snapdragon mobile platform performs an operating system upgrade. These improvements are designed to reduce the time and resources required to upgrade the Android operating system version of the terminal equipped with Snapdragon.
As part of this cooperation with Google, Qualcomm Technologies will now be able to take advantage of the enhanced features of Project Treble, starting with the newly launched Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, supporting four Android operating system versions and four-year security on all Snapdragon platforms Update. The project aims to achieve a faster Android operating system upgrade with fewer resources, and to support a predictable software life cycle on terminals equipped with Snapdragon mobile platforms, so as to ultimately help more Snapdragon-equipped terminals run the latest Android Operating system version.
