Today (3) the International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) raised the global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) sales to US$67 billion this year, an annual increase of 15%, and will reach US$70 billion next year.
It is reported that SEMI has raised the sales of global OEM equipment manufacturers several times since last year.
Taiwan Media Economic Daily reported that for the reasons for this increase, SEMI Industry Research Director Zeng Ruiyu believes that TSMC and Samsung have raised capital expenditures, and the amount of semiconductor equipment shipped in North America in January far exceeded expectations as the main driving factors.
Zeng Ruiyu pointed out that the shipment value of North American semiconductor equipment manufacturers in January reached US$3.04 billion, an annual increase of nearly 30%, surpassing the US$3 billion mark for the first time, setting a record high in a single month, showing that despite the off-season in January, the semiconductor industry has strong demand. .
In addition, Zeng Ruiyu said that not only the investment in equipment is strong, but also the packaging and testing equipment is also due to more chips and longer test time. Last year, sales reached 5.8 billion U.S. dollars, an annual increase of 16%. It is expected that the growth momentum will continue to this day and the next two years.
